Module 4 Blog Connectivism-Mind Map

Usually when I have questions I usually research the Internet or ask others within my network. Learning to connect with others has been a unique learning experience. The digital tools that really help me facilitate learning would include the use of Google Docs, eBooks and blogging. When I was getting my masters degree, I was introduced to eBooks because University of Phoenix used them a lot. It took a lot to get used to EBooks, but through consistent use I adjusted and it really helped me. Blogging gives me the chance to exchange my ideas with others and get feedback. Connecting with others does help learning because learners bring more to the table than just themselves. Learners bring different academic skills, learning styles, technical skills, etc.

  1. Carol,

I too research the internet and ask others when I have questions about something. Web 2.0 has really opened up many different options for me to utilize when I want to collaborate, learn, research, or communicate. I also agree with you when you stated that connecting with others does help learning. Different people will bring different perspectives and strengths/weaknesses to the table. When you work with others you gain their strengths and they gain yours.

  2. I also research the internet but I also receive predetermine subscriptions to technical and academic information. I have a need to receive alerts which inform me of environmental changes.
Connecting with others either face to face or electronically is intellectually stimulating for me. Val Mitchell-Stevens

  3. In looking at your Network Map, I realized that there are many parts of your network which I also utilize but did not include on my network map. It's crazy the amount of connectivity we use on a daily basis! The constant and rapid exchange of ideas that technological connectivity allows us is awesome! It does indeed take some getting used to; how is it that you propose we can teach students how to seek out and form connections and networks to make their transitions easier than ours? Or, is it that in this day and age, that they are learning it as they go already?
